The international evaluation allows us to understand your academic performance as that context is applied to U.S. standards. Our process for transfer applicants includes recalculating each applicant’s GPA to an unweighted 4.0 scale. The course-by-course evaluation and GPA calculation ensures that we can thoroughly and accurately evaluate both your college level and secondary schoolwork.

Transfer Applicants

If you have attended a secondary school and/or university outside of the United States, regardless of your citizenship, you must have an international credential evaluation completed; this is not the same as a transcript. Note, all studies not completed in the U.S. will require an evaluation.

Submit your official documents to a credential evaluator

The processing of International Credential Evaluations takes 2-4 weeks. Please allow sufficient time for processing as the evaluation must be received by the University of Miami by the transfer application deadline.

International Credential Evaluations must contain the following:

  • course by course evaluation
  • a grade point average calculation

A high school official or testing center must submit your official documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, examination results, etc.) directly to the evaluation provider.

The evaluations must be sent to the University of Miami directly from the services listed below. Provisional evaluations are not accepted. Please note that the University cannot accept evaluations directly from counselors.

Criteria for waiving the evaluation

  • Transfer applicant criteria

If you meet any of the following criteria, your international evaluation can be waived:

    • Transferring from
      • an American university abroad
      • a university in Canada, except Quebec

  • How to request to waive

If you meet any of the criteria listed above, the following items must be submitted to waive the international evaluation. Even if you meet criteria for a high school waiver, an international evaluation still needs to be completed for your university trancript.

    • Your official transcript(s) and examination results (if applicable) directly from your high school or the testing center

Note: Your school official should submit your official documents electronically via the Common Application, Slate.org, SCOIR, or Parchment. They can also be emailed directly from your school official to mydocuments@miami.edu.

If electronic submission is not possible, documents can be mailed to one of the following addresses:
