Admission to the University of Miami is very competitive. Applicants are considered based on the strength of their high school curriculum and grades earned, standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, essay, extracurricular activities, and awards/achievements. Check out the Fall 2016 Freshman Class Profile below for an overview of the typical academic achievement and test scores of recently admitted students. When you are ready to apply, visit the next steps.

Admission Requirements

Applicants currently studying outside the United States

Students graduating from a secondary school outside the United States should not submit SAT or ACT scores. All students whose native language is not English are required to submit official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). For information on scores, visit the TOEFL or Other English Proficiency Requirements page.

TOEFL Code: 5815

Applicants studying within the United States

Have your official SAT/ACT scores sent directly from the testing agency. Beginning in Spring 2016, applicants may submit scores from either the current or redesigned SAT. Please note that for the SAT, we consider only the reading and math sections for admission.
