Admitted Student Checklist

Follow the steps below to help you plan your arrival to the University of Miami. For the PDF version of the checklist and FAQs, click here.


1 - Accept

Accept your offer and submit your $500 enrollment deposit.

To pay online, visit canelink.miami.edu:

  1. Click Go to Student Center.
  2. Click Admissions/Pay Deposit at the bottom of your Student Center.
  3. Click Accept Admission/Pay Deposit.
  4. Select the option appropriate for your decision.
  5. If you do not choose UM (we really hope you do!), you can withdraw via CaneLink.

2 - Apply

Apply for on-campus housing and submit your additional $500 Housing Pre-Payment by visiting canelink.miami.edu to apply by the deadline indicated on your letter.

Applying early determines access to single rooms, room changes, and earlier housing sign-ups. After May 1, applications are accepted on a space-available basis. All non-local freshmen are required to live on campus.

3 - International Students

International students who plan to enter the U.S. on a student visa, email documents for Form I-20 (F-1 visa) or Form DS-2019 (J-1 visa) issuance to mydocuments@miami.edu.

  1. Scan your bank or government sponsorship letter (financial guarantee) stating the availability of $65,000 U.S. dollars/year. To view a sample bank letter, visit miami.edu/bankletter.
  2. Scan a copy of the first page of your passport.
  3. Email both documents to mydocuments@miami.edu for issuance of an I-20 (F-1) or DS-2019 (J-1) visa.
