Students admitted to the University of Miami’s Health Professions Mentoring (HPM) Program will participate in a specially designed curriculum and receive academic and professional mentoring throughout their four years of college that will prepare and strongly position them for admission to medical school. A group of HPM students will be selected during their undergraduate junior year for guaranteed entry to the Miller School of Medicine upon their graduation from the University of Miami.
The University employs a holistic review process to assess applicants’ readiness for the HPM Program. Factors influencing admission to the HPM program include the applicant’s personal/life experience within diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and neighborhoods; time and service to disadvantaged populations; excellence in community service and leadership ability; and specific interest in health disparities. Achievements in science and math courses, strong letters of recommendation, a compelling essay, extracurricular activities, and awards/achievements will be considered. The program is currently limited to U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents.
The Early Decision I/Early Action deadline has been extended to November 14, 2016.
The Regular Decision deadline is January 1, 2017.
