On-Campus

The University of Miami offers undergraduate on-campus housing in five residential colleges as well as the University Village apartments, which are comprised of five different apartment models housed in seven buildings. The Village is limited to only full-time juniors and seniors with 60+ academic credits. First Year Experience (FYE) is a collaborative effort to give first-year students the resources and support they need to make a smooth transition into the campus community. The Hecht and Stanford Residential Colleges along with three partial floors of Eaton Residential College currently house all first-year students. Transfer and exchange students live in Eaton, Mahoney, and Pearson Residential Colleges, where residents with upper-class standing are assigned suite-style rooms. UM also offers Special Interest Housing options that provide a unique opportunity for students with upper-class standing who share a common interest to live together in order to enhance their learning and overall experience at UM.

Off-Campus

The Department of Housing and Residential Life provides assistance to all University of Miami students with identifying off-campus housing options if they choose not to live on campus or if they are not eligible for on-campus housing. The following resources are available:

  • A web-based search engine of community listings
  • Information about off-campus apartment complexes where students typically live
  • Individual consultations and appointments
  • Over-the-phone guidance
  • Knowledge of the greater Miami area and specific neighborhoods where students typically reside
  • Roommate search assistance
  • Guide to Living in Coral Gables and South Miami
