All international students whose native language is not English, including those applying for transfer from U.S. institutions, are required to submit official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The TOEFL code for the University of Miami is 5815. Applicants holding an undergraduate or graduate degree from an academic institution within the United States or another English-speaking country are not required to take the TOEFL examination.

Academically qualified applicants who are unable to take the TOEFL, or who have scored less than the required minimum, may be offered admission to undergraduate programs with the condition that they successfully complete Level Five of the University of Miami Intensive English Program (IEP).

Please see International Applicants or the Academic Bulletin webpage for more information on the English requirement.
