Federal Work-Study, including Community Service Work Study, is a federally funded financial aid program awarded to students based on their eligibility determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other financial aid criteria. Based on federal guidelines, the Student Financial Assistance and Employment Office awards as many participants for this program as the federal allocation allows.
Students are awarded a specific award amount. To apply for Federal Work-Study, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and include "Work-study" when asked to identify "what types of student aid interest you?" To be eligible for Federal Work-Study, you must resubmit the FAFSA each year.
Federal Work-Study is just one of several types of employment opportunities for students. The Student Financial Assistance and Employment Office at the University of Miami advises students on other work programs, including the Miami Commitment Program, Student Assistant Program, and off-campus opportunities.
