Many students double-major at UM. Some secondary majors are within the same school or college, and some students manage a secondary major outside of their school or college. The reality of double-majoring between schools and colleges depends heavily on your primary program of study.
You should first think of which major you would like to pursue a career in as your first major, and after looking at that program, begin to inquire about the possibility of a second major. Our current students who double-major talk with their academic and faculty advisors about this path of study. Again, each student's situation may be different depending upon the student's primary major.
UM offers students a unique array of learning options in our nine undergraduate schools and two graduate professional schools. The Cognates Program allows you to use those options to create an education that is both broad and deep that reflects your individual strengths, passions, and goals.
