"It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I really started doing research on colleges and I saw that UM not only had a valuable education, but also had great extracurriculars. During my research, I liked that everyone was very informative and made me feel at home, whether on the phone or through email.

One thing I didn’t have to research was UM’s pride. The pride at this school — whether academics, sports, or culture — was highly apparent. I wanted to go to a smaller-sized school that showed this pride, while staying close to home. I also wanted to learn more about my Hispanic roots, which I currently help research from the study of Hispanics in the health community, affiliated with UM and Jackson Memorial Hospital.

When I put all the facts together, UM spelled that out for me. It was the perfect fit to apply early decision."
